Dr. John Burroughs is a fellowship trained oculofacial plastic surgeon. A common problem he treats is patients with ectropion. This is when the upper or lower eyelid is rolled outward away from the eye instead of resting smoothly up against it. This can cause eye pain, redness, discharge, eye infections, blurred vision, worsened dry eyes, discomfort, and poor cosmesis. Dr. Burroughs has performed many thousand ectropion repairs, and it can be a quick procedure to perform. Some patients get this performed beyond medical reasons to improve their eye appearance as well (e.g., regain or obtain an almond shape).
