Dr. John Burroughs specializes in eyelid and facial plastic surgery. Besides surgery, however, his practice and spa offer non-invasive injectables, minimally invasive, and surgical rejuvenation procedures. This 50-year-old lady felt she never had the lips she wanted. She has had filler, but it wears off quickly in her experience. She also had remarkable asymmetry and didn’t like the elongated-aged look of the large area between her lower nose and upper lip. She underwent a well-hidden, 30-minute surgery that removes skin below the nose to raise the lip and provide a shorter, more youthful span between her upper lip and her nose. She especially liked the improved surgery and the natural new fullness that her upper lip now shows. Lips must be done very well, and many injectors don’t understand ideal lip ratios and lip beauty. The upper lip should be no larger than 2/3 the size of the lower lip, and many look best between 50-65% of the size of the lower lip. When the upper lip becomes similar in size to the lower lip, it looks unnatural (think duck lips or trout mouth) and is not aesthetically ideal. Dr. Burroughs is pleased to offer surgical lip lifting in addition to fat or filler enhancement for the lips. Full, symmetric lips are a hallmark of facial beauty and present a subtle but sensuous look.
