At Springs Aesthetics, our goal is to provide you with all the information you need about stretched ear piercing repair, also called the lobuloplasty procedure. Dr. John Burroughs and his team take the time to cover some of the most commonly asked questions about this restorative procedure for those with stretched ears from past piercings. Let’s take a closer look at the treatment and what to expect.
Stretched ear piercings, also referred to as gauges, can result in very large holes in the ear. When patients have these removed, they are often left with unsightly damage to the bottom of the earlobe. With stretched ear piercing repair, or lobuloplasty, these holes are repaired during a surgical procedure that removes the damaged tissue and reshapes the lobe to create a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
While there is no medical need for stretched ear piercing repair, many men and women feel self-conscious about the appearance of their stretched ears and seek to have them restored to a more natural look. In addition, some patients who visit Springs Aesthetics may want to pursue different career paths or simply desire a change in their style and prefer not to have stretched ears. Ultimately, the decision to undergo this and other elective procedures is personal, and Dr. John Burroughs can walk you through what to expect before, during, and after the procedure.
If you have stretched ear piercings from past gauging or stretching and are looking to restore a more natural appearance, you might be a good candidate for this procedure. However, it is critical that you have a consultation with Dr. John Burroughs and his team to determine your eligibility for the surgery. During this consultation, he thoroughly evaluates the condition of your earlobes, discusses your medical history, and answers any questions or concerns you may have.

The lobuloplasty procedure at Springs Aesthetics is performed under local anesthesia and typically takes around an hour to complete. First, Dr. John Burroughs makes an incision around the damaged tissue and removes it from the lobe. He then reshapes the remaining tissue to create a more natural-looking lobe. The incision is closed with sutures, and post-operative care instructions will be provided to ensure proper healing.
Recovery time for stretched ear piercing repair can vary from patient to patient, but it usually takes four to six weeks. During this time, patients are advised to avoid strenuous activities and follow all of the post-operative care instructions provided by Dr. John Burroughs and his team. Patients might notice and experience some swelling, bruising, and tenderness in the treated area, but these concerns should subside within a few days.
Dr. John Burroughs is dedicated to helping men and women look their best, and the lobuloplasty procedure is just one of many services available. Call (719) 749-3606 to request an appointment at our office at 300 Garden of the Gods Road, Suite #100.
