Are you concerned that you sweat more than other people? Have you tried a variety of antiperspirant options, but nothing seems to provide the relief you need? Excess sweating of the armpits can be unsightly and embarrassing, and it can also cause unpleasant odor. Hyperhidrosis treatment at Springs Aesthetics can reduce your sweating and help you feel your best and refreshed.
What is Armpit Hyperhidrosis?
Armpit hyperhidrosis is a condition related to excessive sweating of the underarms. It is characterized as uncontrolled sweating that causes discomfort and may inhibit daily life. Living with excessive sweating and odor can be embarrassing, and it is an unpredictable condition that can cause frustrating clothing stains and unpleasant body odor.
How is Armpit Hyperhidrosis Treated?
While there are a variety of treatments available for armpit hyperhidrosis, they differ in effectiveness. A Wrinkle Blocker (botulinum) is an injectable treatment option that is a popular choice to reduce sweating; however, the results created with this treatment, though lasting up to a year, are are not permanent.
Our team in Colorado proudly uses Fractora and Morpheus bipolar radiofrequency technology to reduce the symptoms of armpit hyperhidrosis. This is an off-label use, but these treatments are routinely used at Springs Aesthetics over most parts of the body. Your first treatment will typically also have subdermal radio-frequency treatment with the FaceTite or AccuTite handpiece to further and more thoroughly destroy the sweat glands at the very first treatment. Three treatments provide optimal results. During treatment, a handheld device is used to deliver a gentle thermal heat to the skin. The heat is delivered via specially designed tips, and it treats areas under the skin to permanently destroy the sweat glands.
Our armpit hyperhidrosis treatments are performed in the comfort of our office as an outpatient procedure. For your additional comfort, local anaesthetic injections are administered prior to treatment, and Pro-nox nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) for more anxious or pain-sensitive patients. Treatment sessions typically require about 45 minutes.
Results will vary for each person, and it is important to have realistic expectations for treatment. For some patients, only one treatment session is required to experience a noticeable reduction in excessive sweating and unwanted body odor. In some cases, patients require a series of short treatments in order to achieve their ultimate desired results. Many people begin to enjoy the results within a few weeks of treatment.
Does Hyperhidrosis Hurt & Does It Work?
Generally this procedure is not very uncomfortable. It is made comfortable by the use: topical and local anesthetic; availability of Pro-Nox laughing gas; and oral sedation for those wish to have.
It has worked very well for our patients. Usually a series of 3 treatments will reduce sweating by 90% or better as well as odor. Some patients find they only use antiperspirant-deodorant once a week or less. It can be a life changer to no longer have embarrassing excess sweat, ruining of clothes, bad armpit body odor, and the daily need to apply antiperspirant-deodorant.
How Much Does Hyperhidrosis Treatment Cost?
The cost of hyperhidrosis treatment is determined on a patient-by-patient basis, depending on the number of treatments needed. Financing may be available through CareCredit® and Alphaeon® to help you afford the cost of your treatment.
