Youth springs eternal at the office of Dr. John Burroughs. Dr. Burroughs combines his extensive expertise in ophthalmic facial plastic surgery to offer a wide range of surgical and nonsurgical treatments for the eyes and face to patients throughout the Colorado Springs area.
Your skin is made up of many structural components. Hyaluronic acid, collagen, elastin, and fat all contribute to youthful, radiant, firm, smooth, and soft-textured facial skin. As these components degrade, your skin may appear loose or saggy. It may feel rough or leathery to the touch. It no longer has that natural and vibrant “glow.” Hollows can develop under the eyes or in the cheek area.
Additionally, the effects of tanning, lifestyle choices, and environmental influences can build up over time. They may manifest as hyperpigmentation (brown spots) and hasten the development of lines, wrinkles, and other age-related changes. Fortunately, we have a history of successfully treating these and numerous other conditions that can detract from your skin’s youthful texture, tone, and overall quality and make you look older.
No. We understand that some candidates may prefer nonsurgical options. Still, others may not be ready, nor do they need to undergo more extensive procedures. This is where today’s vast range of aesthetic technologies and products come into play. These options can be performed quickly, with minimal preparation and little to no downtime and demands on your body or schedule for healing and recovery.
The available alternatives are so extensive at our office that we have categorized them! Skin rejuvenation treatments include chemical peels and “twists” on standard facials (such as the HydraFacial). We also provide microneedling, which stimulates collagen and elastin production deep within the skin. Laser and light-based therapies include the intense pulsed light “photo facial” and the CO2 fractional laser for dramatic skin resurfacing results without the risk.
We have significant onsite capabilities with injectable treatments, such as dermal/soft tissue fillers and “wrinkle-blockers” like Botox® Cosmetic. Energy-based treatments like Morpheus and Pixel-8 microneedling systems combine the benefits of microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to take your anti-aging results to the next level. Lastly, the “PRP facial” uses healing components from your body’s blood to repair damage and restore firm, elastic, smooth, and radiant skin.
This is a highly personal decision. How we age is at least in part built into our DNA. How we care for our skin and bodies also plays a vital role. So, signs of severe aging can show up earlier among those patients who, for instance, do not protect their skin and have early and frequent sunburns versus those who practice proper sunscreen application and other measures to reduce the UV risk. If nonsurgical therapies are no longer working as well as they once did, you may wish to explore alternatives. When ready, we will introduce you to minimally invasive or surgical options for rejuvenating the upper or lower eyelids, brows, neck, and face.
