Dr. John Burroughs is a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon subspecializing around the eyes and face. One of the most common surgeries he performs is an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty). This can be done to remove heavy, upper eyelid tissues to “open” up the eyes to look younger, more refreshed, and to see better peripherally. Many patients during an upper eyelid lift will simultaneously have a brow lift done through the eyelid incision to stabilize the brow positions, improve symmetry, and raise them higher in needed cases. Most commonly this is a 30-60 minute surgery. It can be done while awake or under deeper sedation/anesthesia. Sutures are generally left in place for about a week. Most bruising and swelling is gone within a few weeks, but can rarely last longer if a patient has been on blood thinners, has hypertension, and from other causes. This patient underwent an upper blepharoplasty with conservative fat sculpting and browpexy. After her surgery she felt like she was less angry or unhappy looking and that she looked more rested and happy to people seeing her. She has been very pleased with her result. Dr. John Burroughs has been performing blepharoplasty surgeries since 1996, and has published journal articles and textbook chapters on specialized techniques. He is a recognized national expert and is often consulted upon the most challenging cases. Are you tired of “tired” looking eyelids? Ready for a consultation?
