Dr. John Burroughs is a board-certified ophthalmologist that completed an addition 2 year subspecialty fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery accredited by ASOPRS. ASOPRS is the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Reconstructive Surgery. Ophthalmology residency is a coveted surgical specialty by many medical school graduates with many more applicants than slots for training. Subspecialty fellowship training is even more competitive and Dr. John Burroughs trained at one of the premier ASORPS fellowships beating out over 30 other highly regarded applicants. ASOPRS fellowships are 2 years in length and cover surgery of the eyelids, orbits, and face. Both cosmetic and reconstructive treatments are emphasized. Fellows of ASOPRS are the recognized eyelid experts, and many plastic surgeons receive their eyelid surgical training from ASOPRS trained surgeons.
