BodyTite™ is a minimally invasive body contouring treatment that reduces fat while tightening the skin. Healthy persons looking to remove fat and tighten loose skin following weight loss, pregnancy, or aging are good candidates for BodyTite™. It is ideal to be at your goal body weight and have a health self-image and realistic expectations.
What is BodyTite™?
BodyTite™ is one of several radiofrequency technologies that are available for non-surgical body contouring, yet BodyTite™ has some distinct advantages over other systems. In 2017, Dr. Burroughs began using this FDA-approved treatment that utilizes applying radiofrequency heat under the skin. This mechanism can simultaneously reduce fat cells, constricts (tightens) tissues and boosts collagen levels. It can be utilized to only tighten or to tighten and reduce fat. A structure in our skin, the fibroseptal network (FSN), responds to the radiofrequency heat and contracts thereby leading to tightening of the tissues over time.
How Much Does BodyTite™ Cost?
After you discuss BodyTite™ with Dr. Burroughs during the consultation, we will review your cost and explain our payment methods. Springs Aesthetics offers financing for qualified patients through CareCredit® and Alphaeon®. You can apply before the consultation.
Am I a Candidate for BodyTite™?
BodyTite™ is ideal for anyone who wants to eliminate mild to moderate stubborn fat and/or loose skin that can make you look out of shape. It is a contouring device. The best candidates are:
- At a healthy weight for at least one year
- Realistic expectations and healthy self-image
- Desiring to remove fat from the arms, thighs, buttocks, chest, abdomen, and other areas of the body
- Interested in less downtime than surgery
What Areas Can Be Treated With BodyTite™?
- Abdomen
- Waist & Flanks
- Hips
- Inner/Outer thighs and knees
- Male Breasts
- Upper Arms
- Displeasing Bra Fat
- Face or Neck (FaceTite/NeckTite)
Is BodyTite™ Better Than CoolSculpting?
BodyTite™ carries many benefits over CoolSculpting. It provides longer results, tightens the skin while CoolSculpting does not, it is more customizable for more optimal contouring, and it is a single treatment that can last for many years.
How is BodyTite™ Performed?
The BodyTite™ device has a U-shaped design. The bottom section of the device is the internal probe, which measures temperature and delivers the radiofrequency heat while the top portion is used to measure the temperature difference at the surface to keep the treatment safe.
Are FaceTite & BodyTite™ The Same?
They use the same radiofrequency technology and similar appearing handpieces though the BodyTite™ handpiece is substantially larger and uses 40W power compared to the FaceTite 20W.
What is Recovery Like After BodyTite™?
BodyTite™ treatments may require some downtime. Typically, smaller areas require just a few days of downtime. Larger areas may require seven to 10 days of downtime. However, most can be up and about within just a few days but should avoid heavy strenuous exercise for a couple weeks. Some bruising and swelling is typical, but most patients only experience some mild achiness or soreness. If liposuction is also performed then the soreness can be greater.
How Long Will BodyTite™ Results Last?
Final results take up to 6-12 months, but begin to be noticeable around 2 months after the treatment. Once the collagen is stabilized, you may enjoy the benefits of minimally invasive body contouring for one year or longer, most are several years, if you follow a healthy, active lifestyle. To protect your investment and to facilitate the response, we recommend Alastin Transform Body (hyperlink should be put in).
Do I Have To Be Put Under Anesthesia For BodyTite™?
No. Most patients receive just mild oral or light IV sedation. Dr. Burroughs performs the FaceTiteTM and BodyTite™ procedures in his office operating/procedure room. A dilute local anesthetic, tumescent, makes the treatment comfortable and safe. Most patients don’t experience any significant post-treatment discomfort outside of some soreness.
Does BodyTite™ Do The Same Thing As Liposuction?
Not really. It can destroy some limited amounts of fat to improve body contours. However, larger amounts of excess fat still require liposuction if weight loss does not result in one’s contour shape improvements goals. Liposuction alone does not significantly tighten the skin, so if areas are treated with liposuction but no skin tightening or removal is performed they can sag and appear worse. BodyTite™ was developed as substitute for more limited amounts of fat removal over liposuction but offers so many benefits that it is a popular adjunct in addition to liposuction for the skin tightening benefits without large surgical scars.
Does BodyTite™ Leave Any Scarring?
Dr. Burroughs has been using FaceTite/NeckTite/BodyTite since about 2017. He was amongst the 1st in Colorado to bring this amazing technology. Typically the BodyTite™ requires small 3-4 mm entry skin incisions be made at various locations. These typically heal very nicely, but sometimes can leave small scars that they were there. This is just from having made the incision and not from doing the BodyTite™ itself. Dr. Burroughs has had no severe complications with BodyTite™ such as full-thickness burns, scars or unusual contour irregularities.
Do I Have To Do Anything After My BodyTite™ Treatment?
Dr. Burroughs recommends his patients rest for a few days, but you do not have to remain in bed. He encourages gentle ambulation and non-strenuous activity. Certain treatment areas benefit with a support garment that is worn for a few months.
Is BodyTite™ Safe?
Yes. Any procedure can have risks and complications, but Dr. Burroughs has been performing radiofrequency treatments with FaceTite, NeckTite, BodyTite™ since 2017. The risk of a severe burn or complicated infection is extremely low (~0.002 incidence). The technology is very safe, and Dr. Burroughs utilizes protocols to further maximize the safety and comfort during the treatment.
Is BodyTite™ Permanent?
The destroyed fat cells are permanently gone following absorption during healing. However, remaining fat in surrounding areas of the local tissue can expand (hypertrophy) if significant weight gain occurs. If one maintains a healthy lifestyle, including fitness, and skincare regimen then the contour improvements and tightening can last many years. The procedure can be repeated, but generally is not needed before 3-4 years. Most of Dr. Burroughs’ patients have not had to repeat BodyTite™ if they have remained weight stable, healthy, and take care of their skin.
Can BodyTite™ Help Me Lose Weight?
No. BodyTite™ alone or combined with liposuction can provide pleasing body contouring improvements, but it is not a method for weight loss.
Patients may notice a slight decrease in their weight after the BodyTite™ treatment, but this is not the intent of the technology. The best candidates for BodyTite™ have maintained a healthy weight for at least 6-12 months and have followed a dedicated lifestyle of eating right and exercising on a regular basis. If you are still losing weight or have lost greater than 15 lbs in the last 6 months then you should hold off on undergoing the treatment. BodyTite™ is a fantastic treatment for patients, who have had weight loss and have noticed the displeasing sagging and other changes to their skin such as increased wrinkles.
If Dr. Burroughs determines that you should try to lose weight before having BodyTite™ treatments, he may be able to recommend some new practices and lifestyle habits that will get you ready for minimally invasive body contouring in the future.
