Hyaluronic acid fillers may be injected into the lower eyelids to rejuvenate their appearance. Filler may be safely and comfortably injected into these areas using a cannula technique. The filling provides a smoother eyelid transition with the cheek and nasal tissues to soften and rejuvenate their appearance. A “filler blepharoplasty” can last between 1-3 years. Belotero is a great choice for this area especially in patients with particularly thin skin because it tends to not cause the tyndall (blue color change) that can be seen with other fillers, and it is less hygroscopic (water attracting) so there is less chance that it will look too puffy, which Dr. Burroughs has had to treat with other filler products (e.g., Juvederm) when placed in the lower eyelids. Restylane is another great choice for the lower eyelids, and can last longer than Belotero and though it doesn’t attract much water it can in some patients causing a bluish discoloration to the overlying skin if it is placed too superficially or if the skin is particularly thin.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers area a great non-surgical alternative to a surgical blepharoplasty, and it is reversible with an enzyme injection (hyaluronidase). The results can be fine-tuned or further “sculpted” by injecting very precise amounts of the reversing enzyme. Dr. Burroughs is frequently referred patients that need this done owing to his expertise as both a cosmetic eyelid surgeon and master lower eyelid filler injector. A video of his technique can be viewed here. A sample patient of his is shown below. This has become one of Dr. Burroughs’ most requested non-surgical treatments for eyelid rejuvenation. Dermal fillers may also be placed in the brow tissues to give a more youthful fullness to this area and to correct upper eyelid sulcus or A-frame type deformities.

Want your eyelids to look younger, but don’t have time or the money for surgery then consider a “filler blepharoplasty” by Dr. John Burroughs at Springs Aesthetics.

Below is a patient who opted for the least invasive way to treat her “hollows” under her eyes. In just a few minutes, this patient looks renewed and refreshed without pain, downtime, or invasive techniques. The bottom photo is our patient’s after–you’ll see just how great she looks! This procedure is affordable and will remain looking good for about 12-36 months without touchup (all patients vary). It should also be noted, that if you did not like the new look, all HA fillers are reversible.
