Dr. John Burroughs practices cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery of the eyelids and face.

Blepharoplasty means to shape or mold the eyelids, and refers to plastic surgery of the eyelids. Dr. John Burroughs has been performing blepharoplasty surgery since 1996.

For some patients they just want a little excess skin removed, while others like this lady had so much over hanging skin that it was causing visual interference.

This can be noticed by trouble seeing other cars or traffic lights while driving, problems with reading and computer work, and some patients have had issues even bumping their heads on hallway corners or cabinets in the home.

The surgery has minimal postoperative discomfort, and most patients regret not doing it sooner once they see and look much better following the surgery.

This patient had what eyelid surgeons call “lateral hooding” because her skin is hooding over the outside edges of her eyes. During a blepharoplasty some patients elect to have other procedures to improve their appearance to include: fat sculpting/repositioning, browpexy sutures to stabilize/lift the eyebrows, mid face lift, face lift, forehead lift, and chemical peel, wrinkle blocker, dermal fillers, and others.

Ptosis is a separate issue where the eyelid margin (right at the eyelashes) is hanging too low over the eye. Ptosis surgery is different than a blepharoplasty, but they can and are often performed simultaneously to achieve the optimal results.

Dr. John Burroughs is a recognized expert eyelid surgeon and has taught other surgeons and written articles and textbook chapters that other plastic surgeons refer to.

Blepharoplasty is his favorite, most requested, and most performed surgery. He appreciates the artistry involved with helping patients see and look better.
